Assistance facilities for passengers with restricted mobility (PRMs)

Abruzzo Airport is equipped with assistance facilities for PRMs with visual and motor disabilities:

• elevators

• toilets for PRMs

• dedicated parkings next to the terminal

• means for boarding or exiting the aircraft

• call points (PRMs can call directly the staff of the operating company)

In order to guarantee a reliable service, the assistance request should be notified at the moment of the flight booking and at the latest 48 hours before departure. For information about the meaning of the codes used by the operators, please check IATA codes.

Where can you find dedicated parking areas for PRMs?

Abruzzo Airport offers 8 PRMs dedicated parkings in front the arrival and departure terminals. These parkings are located next to the pedestrian exits and are marked with a specific symbol. PRMs parking is free of charge for vehicles equipped with the DPR 151/2012 permit. This permit and the parking ticket have to be shown at the S.A.G.A. manned cashier.

Where can you find call points reserved to PRMs?

The first one is located outside the Airport entrance doors, departures area, next to the bar; the second one is located inside the terminal, next to the security checkpoint. In case of call points failure, please contact the emergency phone number (+39) 085-43242321.

Free parking areas

Parking is free of charge at the Abruzzo Airport, inside all areas dedicated to PRMs holding the DPR 151/2012 permit. This permit, in original copy, with the parking ticket and the identity card have to be shown to the manner cashier or to the information desk. In case of free parking request by the person who accompanies the PRM, he/she must show all documents indicated above, with the flight ticket or boarding pass.

PRM check-in procedures

PRMs going directly to the check-in area:

1) have to show up at the scheduled time published by the airline, tour operator, travel agent or airport operator;

2) in case of not established schedule, the 1107/2006 Regulation indicates at least one hour before departure time.

PRMs going to the designated point inside the Airport:

1) have to show up at the scheduled time published by the airline, tour operator, travel agent or airport operator;

2) in case of not established schedule, the 1107/2006 Regulation indicates at least two hours before departure time.

Available means and services

2 ambulifts and 10 wheelchairs. For further information about PRMs rights, please check the official ENAC website. Abruzzo Airport offers assistance to PRMs coming from Pescara for checking-in and boarding procedures. PRMs have to indicate their disability at the moment of the reservation.

 

PRM IATA codes

WCHR (WHEEL CHAIR RAMP). Passenger who can walk inside the aircraft and go up and down the stairs without assistance, but has difficulties in walking long distances inside the Airport without wheelchair.

WCHS (WHEEL CHAIR STAIR). Passenger who can walk inside the aircraft without assistance, but cannot go up and down the stairs unaided and who need a wheelchair for long distances inside the Airport.

WCHC (WHEEL CHAIR COMPLETELY). Passenger who is completely unable to move, who needs a wheelchair and requires total assistance for any step of the travel, inside the Airport and aboard.

DEAF. Passenger who has hearing or hearing and speech impairment.

BLIND. Passenger who is visually impaired (please distinguish between blind and legally blind).

DEAF/BLIND. Passenger who has hearing and visual impairment, who cannot move unaided.

DPNA. Passenger who has intellectual or behavioral disabilities.
